ABOUT INDIA STREET KIDS

Everyone loves children and that is no more true than in India were family is at the very center of life. Although India loves their children, still thousands of children roam the streets of major cities around the country and receive neither education, proper food, clothing, or a bed to sleep in at night.

What is happening? Why are these children roaming and begging in the streets? What should be done and who is willing to do something to help these poor children?

India Street Children dot Org is dedicated to raising public awareness and bringing about solutions to the problem. If your heart has ever been touched by seeing a poor little child begging in the streets of India and you wanted to do something to help but you felt completely helpless to do anything to benefit that child, then please go through this website and learn more in depth about the problem and what you can do to make a difference.

A mind and heart that cares, awareness presentations through multi-media, contributions, talking and sharing information among friends, education, self-help initiatives and good old fashion kindness are all that is needed to get these kids off the streets. Getting involved is a big part of solving any problem. Even a little involvement will help these kids so why not get involved!

We have a Five Point Program that we are developing to help street kids in India. The program consists of providing the following; Food, Clothing, Shelter, Medical Assistance and Education. This is a hands on project that requires funding and volunteers. We welcome Corporations and Industrialists to get involved in the Five Point Program as a way of giving back something to society. The only thing really required to help the India Street Kids is for good people like yourselves to step forward and do something. Please contact us today if you would like to assist either financially or personally.

STREET KIDS IN THE NEWS AROUND THE WORLD

Street kids drown woes in substance abuse

Bangalore : It is rather hard to notice abandoned children on the streets. In their clothes of grey and skin the colour of mud, they blend in with the busy sights of the road. But look beyond the squalor that surrounds and the stench that keeps the world away and you see a rag around their mouths, tiny pieces that speed up their walk to self-destruction. For students, it could be a cool thing, for street children, it's almost a means of survival.

Substance abuse among street children, abandoned children, rag-pickers and child beggars is alarmingly high. No one, not even the activists who try to rehabilitate them, are sure how big the problem is; there are only estimates being cautiously made. What makes it worse is the sorry state of the government-run rehabilitation home in the city, that does not have a regular counsellor or clinical psychiatrist, leaving more children to the mercy of the rough streets and their dark corners. THOUGHTS FROM BOLIVIA: La fiesta de los niños de la calle

The Festival of the Children of the Streets: I now have the privilege of looking back on a day stuffed with impressions and stories. I had an unique opportunity to get to know a big part of the children living on the streets of Santa Cruz. We actually had a big party were all of the street children were invited and there were a lot of children who came. I had the greatest time of my life.
